North Creek in Arcadia

It was a cool 30 degrees today in the forest. I spent some time in North Creek close to North Creek Campground. This is a beautiful area which is just minutes from Buchanan, VA. The area is called Arcadia but you might not find it on your GPS. If you are a fly fisherman this is the place for you. These are stocked trout waters. This is in the Jefferson National Forest and made up of North Creek, Middle Creek and Jennings Creek. These are prime stocked waters and people come from all over to fish.
There are two campgrounds in this section of the forest; North Creek Campground which is a Forestry primitive campground. It has 14 sites and one double site. The fee is $15.00 a night. The sites have good distance between one another and you’ll find it very peaceful.  The second campground is Middle Creek Campground which is privately owned. This is a full hook up facility with a pool, store, grill, fishing pond and game room.
This is a great area for outdoor lovers. Just minutes away in Buchanan, Va. is Twin River Outfitter which offer canoes, kayak and tube rentals. They are full service and will take  you up the river and drop you off. There are many other activities for the outdoorsman all within ten miles. Make sure you have the proper fishing license. You will need a state fresh water license, trout license and a national forest license.
